Dune Dog Cafe, Jupiter

I know this sounds a bit crazy but one of my favorite places to get grilled fish is Dune Dog Cafe. Located on Alternate A1A, in a Tiki Hut, Dune Dog is the best value in Jupiter. Besides serving a large selection of hot dogs and burgers, they serve seafood, wings and smokey, meaty, saucy Baby Back Ribs. On the seafood side, they serve crab, lobsters, and clams steamed. They also serve shrimp and fish grilled, fried and blackened. Grilled fish can be a tricky thing if not done jut right. It can so easily be dry. I have never had a dry fillet at Dune Dog. Plus, I love their tartar sauce on the fish and the black beans and rice as a side. Try to catch them on one of their special nights, Monday is all you can eat ribs. Tuesday is two compete dinners for the price of one. Thursday is lobster night, a whole Maine Lobster with two sides for a ridiculously low price. This is an incredibly casual place, so go right from the beach to the table. www.dunedog.com

Christopher's Kitchen, Palm Beach Gardens

Need a nutrition reset after a bit too much vacation??? Christopher’s Kitchen on PGA is the place to go. Their menu is completely plant based and delicious. They serve lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch in their bright dining room or outdoors in a plaza complete with a bubbling fountain. Nervous about plant based, don’t be. The food is fresh and full of flavor. CaptK , who is no fan of plant based, loves their Pad Thai. Their sandwiches are large and very filling. My favorite soup is the Gazpacho. It comes with all the toppings on the side so you can create your own masterpiece. The Florida Chopped Salad is another one of my favorites. It is a big salad full of avocado, apples and cranberries. When you eat at Christopher’s Kitchen you will leave feeling healthy and full! www.christopherskitchenfl.com

Lynora's Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens

One of my favorite meals is to share a pizza, a salad and a bottle to red wine. In Jupiter, Lynora’s is our go-to place for pizza. Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, they have two locations in Jupiter, Alton Town Center close to Roger Dean Stadium in Abacoa, and US 1 at the Jupiter Tequesta border. Our favorites are the Insalata Rucola - arugula, artichokes, shaved parmesan drizzled with a truffled mustard vinaigrette and the Piccante Pizza, a wood fired, spicy, pepper, salami, mozzarella delight. Complement that with a glass of their Piccini Super Tuscan or their Montepulciano D’Abruzzo and all is right with the world. They have a great menu of Italian classic dishes that tend to be a bit pricey. For $50.00 before tax and gratuity, you can share a wood-fired pizza, tasty salad, and two glasses of good Italian wine. This is my idea of a perfect dinner. www.lynorasjupiter.com

Papichula's Jupiter

If you think a margarita and a plate of tacos eaten in a cool outdoor environment is the perfect meal, then Papichulos is the place for you. Their menu is full of interesting tacos and Mexican street food. The guacamole, and the chicken and fish tacos are my favorites. Fresh fruit margaritas complement the food. Don’t miss the Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita if you like a sweet-spicy combination. All the food comes family style so it is a fun place to come with a group. Besides being a fun place with good food and lots of choices, Papichulos can be very easy on your wallet. Everyday from 11am-6pm the bar is 50% off and there is a selection of $3 tacos and $6 street foods. On Taco Tuesdays those specials last all day. This is a great place to go after a day at the beach or the ball park. www.papichulotacos.com

Hog Snappers, Tequesta

Jupiter is home to many outstanding seafood restaurants. The seafood tends to skew towards a New England style preparation. They can be very pricey. I have three options for you that give you unique choices at lower price points. Hog Snappers on US 1 in Tequesta has been a beloved restaurant for years. They offer seafood with an Asian flair like sushi and poke bowls. They also offer traditional dishes like Crab Crusted Snapper and Whole Fried Hogfish. I love their Fish Tacos with a Margarita Picante! They have a great happy hour with drinks and food choices. www.hogsnappersshackandsushi.com

Food Shack, Jupiter

Down the road in Jupiter is Little Moir’s Food Shack. Opened in 2002, Food Shack is the first of the Jupiter Seafood restaurants to incorporate Asian or South Pacific flavors into their menus. They are famous for the Sweet Potato Crusted Fish which you can get on any of their daily fresh catches as well as land and vegan options. I love their Seafood Curry Bowl. It frequently appears on their daily specials. If you stick to the daily fresh catch options, you can have dinner for 2 with a dessert to share for under $50 before alcohol, taxes and gratuity. Be prepared, the wait can be very long during peak times. www.littlemoirsjupiter.com

Captain Charley's Reef Grill, Juno Beach

My favorite place for seafood is Captain Charlie’s Reef Grill in Juno Beach. In a shopping center that faces south between US 1 and A1A, the food is fresh, with both traditional and unique preparations. There is a wide variety of entrees to choose from. The bargain is at lunch. Most of the delicious choices are available for lunch at about half the price. I love the Yellowtail Snapper sautéed in a freshly prepared lemon butter sauce with black beans and rice on the side. I like to start with a bowl of their spicy Conch Chowder and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. They are open for lunch Monday to Saturday from 11am to 3 pm and dinner 5pm to 9:30 Sunday to Thursday, 5pm to 10:00pm Friday and Saturday. Be prepared -the wait can be long. You can call ahead for parties of 6 or more. www.captaincharliesreefgrillfl.com

Guanabana's Jupiter

Dining outdoors, among banyan trees, tiki huts and mangroves, Guanabanas is a true tropical paradise. They specialize in fresh Florida seafood and Florida inspired land food. Their Slow Smoked Wings are some of the best I have ever tasted. I can’t resist the smokey, sweet, spicy combination. The Braised Pork Rib Tacos served on freshly made corn tortillas can satisfy any taco craving. I frequently order the Guanabana Salad topped with the fresh catch. The sweetness of the Guanabana Vinaigrette with the warm flakey fish on the crunchy salad matches the tropical surrounding, in my mind. They are open 7 days a week at 11:30 and at 8:30am on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast. They have live music both during the day and in the evenings. Check out their website for the schedule. www.guanabanas.com

Dive Bar, Jupiter

Dining on fresh seafood in a beautiful Marina is my vacation daydream. If you love it as much a we do, head to the Dive Bar when you are in Jupiter. Located on the Jupiter Yacht Club Marina off US 1, their large menu has something for everyone. Their sushi selection is extensive. I find their Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll hard to pass up. I often have that and a bowl of their conch chowder for lunch. They have several choices of raw oysters daily, which is always one of my favorites. Their Lobster Roll is full of succulent lobster with a light dressing. It is presented on a buttered, toasted roll, so delicious!! Capt. K is a fan of the Snapper Bah Mi sandwich. A tempura friend yellowtail snapper fillet served on a kaiser roll topped with pickled veggies and sweet tomato jam. www.divebarrestaurant.com I hope you love Jupiter as much as we do and these restaurant suggestions help you find some wonderful meals without breaking the bank.
